During a month residency I have been working on several projects: Leela board game, The Touch, Self-portraits (textiles), the Horse using sewing machine, dry felting, beadwork, and drawing.
The touch
Collaboration with poet and writer Tristan Randall (Australia).
The visual part of the project is based on photographs (screened on the laptop) of nature taken in the residency, then machine-stitched on the A6 cards. After they were accompanied by Tristan's poems, who didn't know what the original photos were, printed on tracing paper and connected to the cards.
There were textiles and A4 paper sheets without poems, as well as beaded decorations that represent textures of Finnish nature. The project is to broaden the connection between humans and nature, including blind people that can sense the landscapes via touching them.

Residents could participate in an immersive experience by touching the cards with their eyes closed while the author was reading the attached poem.
